What's New
June 30, 2021 - It's been a busy Spring for us. Valor earned 3 more QQs in WCRL rally and is now half way to her ARCHEX. Meanwhile Rhys has worked on growing up and learning some basic skills. Along the way he has earned several DMWYD trick titles including Novice and Novice Masters, as well as completing their 20:1, AtoZ, and Summer Scavenger Hunt challenges.
March 6, 2021 - Terrasen welcomed a new addition today. Valor's nephew, Rhys. Continuing my Sarah J Maas theme Rhys is named for the character Rhysand in her Court of Thorns and Roses series. His registered name is Sterling Court of Dreams. I'm sure the future holds good things for Rhys, but for now he's having fun becoming Valor's best friend.
January 30, 2021 - Valor and I attended a WCRL rally trial today. After a 3 year hiatus from WCRL we ran 4 runs, earning our first 2 ARCHEX legs. The best part was that she was happy, focused, and having fun in the ring and managed to bring home 2 first places, 1 third (tied for 1st on score), and a 5th place (she decided to have a lot of fun and make up her own course). She also earned her CCF2 title this week.
January 20, 2021 - Valor was among the first group of dogs to earn the new Trick Dog Grand Champion title!!!! She also earned her CCF1.
January 13, 2021 - CDSP National Rankings were released and Valor ranked #12 Open B and #1 Versatility B dog!

November 28, 2020 - Valor earned her CDSP Open title and her first Versatility Q today! We met our goal of earning a CDX in 2020!
November 11, 2020 - Valor earned her ASCA Virtual Rally Novice title today. This was our first try at ASCA and it was really fun. I'm looking forward to trying their other virtual classes over the winter. This was also Valor's 50th title.
August 30, 2020 - Valor earned her first 2 CDX-C legs this weekend. She had great scores for all 4 runs, but ducked the high jump in her first run and then was very distracted for her heeling in her last run. However, the rest of her deductions throughout the weekend were mostly just 1/2 - 1 points. I'm so very proud of how happy she was to compete this weekend.
August 26, 2020 - Valor had her ultrasound today and unfortunately there were no puppies. I'm beyond broken over this, I was so hopeful that she would take this time. I am currently searching for a different stud to try in the Spring.
July 1, 2020 - Valor earned her CDX via CDSP Video today. I am so proud. 2020 was supposed to be our year for all things Open but the pandemic squashed all those plans and I'm so happy that CDSP offers a video option so we could continue training and working on things.
June 19, 2020 - Valor completed her USDAA Starter Performance Jumpers title via their @Home program. Videos for all of her At Home runs are on our YouTube page.

April 18, 2020 - Valor completed the requirements for the AKC's Trick Dog Elite title.
February 28, 2020 - Valor and I stepped into the Open ring today. We didn't qualify but it was the most fun I have had in years. I spent so long dreaming of getting to Open and I wasn't sure it would ever become a reality. But man it was fun and I couldn't be more proud of Valor.
January 1, 2020 - After 20 years I have decided to change my kennel name. I chose Taklimakan after watching a NOVA special on the Taklimakan desert, translated it roughly means "what goes in doesn't come out" and while morbid in that context the idea struck me that when we bring an animal into our home it is here for life. Stemming from my experience with my Quarter Horse, Sassy, no matter the condition they are in when they arrive each animal is promised the best care for the rest of their life. Truthfully, and brutally honestly, I am not the same person I was 20 years ago. I don't have the same interests or goals. I love the one Taklimakan litter I produced, but I will not sugar coat that it was devastating to have tried to do everything right and end up losing them all to cancer at young ages. No dog can ever replace Fly or the boys, but I feel like I need a fresh start with a new name that signifies hope to build a brighter future on. So we have become Terrasen, taken from a book series that I love, it's still a unique name but one that is far easier to pronounce.
December 6, 2019 - We had our ultrasound today and unfortunately Valor is not pregnant. We are very sad, but we will try again next heat.
October 6, 2019 - Valor earned her CA this weekend. At first she didn't understand why there were turns but after some encouragement and wonderful help from the trial committee she improved with each run over the weekend.
September 22, 2019 - Valor competed in another FastCAT this weekend. She started the weekend off by smashing her previous best time of 9.80 with an 8.88. The rest of her runs were in the 9 second range earning us a bunch of DCAT points.
September 1, 2019 - Valor earned her CD and PCD this morning! She finished both titles with placements for every leg (CD: 2 firsts and 1 second, PCD: 2 firsts and 1 third). I can't wait to start polishing up our skills for Open.
August 30, 2019 - Valor earned a 98 and second place in Rally Intermediate today. It was one of the nicest runs we have had in a long time. Everything felt connected and happy.
August 25, 2019 - Valor and I entered our first Fast CAT trial this weekend in Syracuse, NY. We had a blast and because she measured under 18" we ran with a 1.5 handicap so she earned 168+ points and her BCAT title!
July 27, 2019 - Valor and I tried our first Fast CAT runs today and we loved it! She ran her first try in 11.26 seconds (18.17mph) and her second run in 10.10 seconds (20.25mph). We can't wait to attend our first trial!

April 19, 2019 - Valor earned her second PCD leg with a 3rd place.
April 13, 2019 - Valor earned her first PCD leg with a first place and HIT for the Preferred classes!
April 1, 2019 - We said good-bye to Catcher today. His health had been declining since the summer and he had stopped responding to antibiotics. He was truly a miracle dog that survived so many health issues but it was clear that his body was tired of fighting an 11 year battle. He is greatly missed.
March 30, 2019 - Valor earned her Zoom Level 1 Ace and Zoom Level 1.5 titles!
